Our Mission

Supporting Adaptive Wakesurfing:
Ohana Vienna is a non-profit collective dedicated to empower Florian Dungl (@cagesurfer), the world’s first tetraplegic wakesurfer. Based at Donau Marina Wien, we benefit from exceptional training conditions on and off the water, enabling us to promote the message, ‘Inclusion Matters’, through our actions and initiatives.
Proud Ambassadors of Vienna:
We are honored to represent Vienna—a city at the forefront of supporting inclusion—on the global stage. Through international competitions and our presence on social media, we showcase Vienna’s commitment to inclusive sports and community support.
Florian Dungl’s Inspirational Journey:
Florian’s story began in 2007 after a swimming accident left him wheelchair-bound and struggling with depression. In 2019, he joined Ohana Vienna with the goal of becoming the first tetraplegic wakesurfer, finding new motivation and purpose in life. Just a year later, Flo rode his first wave! A milestone for both him and our community. Since then, he became a Phase 5 Teamrider and can call himself 2x adaptive European Champion and the first-ever adaptive World Champion
The Role of Donauraum Wien:
Our journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Donauraum Wien, who provided us with the essential infrastructure for adaptive sports. This base allows us not only to train but also to host annual Try-Out Days, where we share our knowledge and experiences with other adaptive athletes and crews.
Expanding the Reach of Adaptive Sports:
Our events are crucial for expanding the reach and impact of adaptive sports, fostering a community of support and inspiration. We are committed to growing this community and continuing to prove that with determination, support, and the right opportunities, anything is possible.
Continuing the Legacy of Inclusion:
We are proud to represent Vienna as a city that stands for inclusion and will continue to carry its values worldwide, inspiring others to believe in the potential of adaptive sports and inclusive communities.
